| Urban Behavioral Healthcare Institute provides quality behavioral healthcare programs and services that address the unique needs of children, adults and families residing in urban settings. UBH Institute offers a variety of programs and psychological services to residents and organizations in the Greater St. Louis area. Its development has lead to the establishment of the following services: Consultation, Program Development, Psychological Services and Foster Care Management. Urban Behavioral Healthcare Institute has provided case management services to children in state custody as a result of abuse and neglect since 1998. UBH Institute’s Family Support Workers are well trained and experienced professionals. They continually demonstrate expertise in providing services to the children and families they serve, meeting their individual and special needs. Family Support Workers act collaboratively with the Courts to develop reunification and/or permanency plans for children entrusted to its care. The goal of reunifying children with their parents is the primary goal of Urban Behavioral Healthcare Institute. However, due to the complexity of issues contributing to children being separated from their families, this is not always possible. Foster Care, Adoption and Guardianship become alternative options. The Family Support Workers at UBH Institute have a history of working closely with kinship providers and foster parents to offer support and meet the needs of both children and care providers. The leadership of Urban Behavioral Healthcare Institute is knowledgeable and respectful of the traditional practices of psychology, child welfare and child protective services. Yet the overall goal and mission of UBH Institute is to bring forth the best merging of tradition with developing innovative services based on the best up to date knowledge, research and practices. As an organization, Urban Behavioral Healthcare Institute draws from the twenty-five plus years of expertise and leadership given by its founder and president, Linda Sharpe-Taylor, Ph.D. Her solid and unwavering commitment to urban families is a valuable asset that fuels UBH Institute, making it a fresh and progressive organization—flexible and responsive to the changing climate in which social services are delivered. |
